Week One

Basic Plumbing Skills: Assessed Installation of a Cloakroom Suite  

Training Includes           
  • Correct and safe use of tools and fittings
  • Soldering & bending copper tube
  • Jointing methods
  • Correct and practical uses of different materials and fixings 

Cloakroom Suite 

  • Mark out and plan assessment
  • Install first fix pipe work using copper tube and wall clips                                           
  • Install components & fittings to a toilet & basin
  • Secure fixing of sanitary appliances
  • Second fix pipe work to cloakroom suite appliances
  • Commission installation
  • Routine maintenance & fault finding 

Week Two

Complete Bathroom Installation: Practical Assessments

Stage 1

Airing Cupboard Installation & Assessments

Practical Tasks
  • Decommission hot & cold water services including all sanitary ware
  • Install all fittings and components to a cold water storage cistern
  • Install all fittings and components to a hot water storage cylinder
  • Commission installation
  • Insulation of hot & cold water pipe work
  • Routine maintenance & fault finding 
Stage 2

Sanitary Appliances Installation & Assessments  

Practical Tasks
  • Use plastic speedfit plumbing systems to run first fix hot & cold water pipe work
  • Use plastic pushfit & solvent weld pipe to run first fix waste pipe sevices 
  • Dress sanitary ware with all fittings and components and securely fix in place
  • Second fix hot & cold water pipe work to sanitary appliances
  • Second fix plastic waste system to sanitary appliances
  • Commission bathroom installation/performance test sanitary waste system
  • Routine maintenance & fault finding 

Week Three                        

Bathroom continued 

Stage 3 

Combination Boiler Jig Installation In Bathroom

Practical Tasks

  • Decommission cold water storage cistern & hot water cylinder inc pipe work
  • Install a combination boiler jig in bathroom
  • Connect combi boilers hot & cold pipe work to the existing bathroom pipework               
  • Install a wall hung radiator in bathroom and connect flow & return to boiler
  • Commission the combi boilers hot water & heating system
  • Routine maintenance & fault finding 
LCS Assessments

Mild Steel Pipe Work Fabrication & Installation Assessments  

Training Includes 
  • Measuring and cutting steel
  • Threading and jointing
  • Bending steel using a hydraulic bender 
Radiator Installation  
  • Mark out fixings and radiator positions
  • Hanging radiators
  • Fixing wall mounted clips to wall
  • Install pipe work to radiators
  • Commision radiators
  • Routine maintenance & fault finding

Week Four                  

Sheet Lead Fabrication Installation & Assessments  

Training Includes     
  • Bossing & forming skills
  • Calculating measuring and marking out
  • Cutting sheet lead
  • Fuse welding lead using oxygen & acetylene gases                                                     
Weathering Set
  • Form a front apron
  • Step flashings with soakers
  • Back gutter with hood
  • Lead slate for soil pipe
  • Commission weathering set
  • Routine maintenance
