Plumbing Training Courses In Birmingham

Awards and Qualifications

The training course has been designed to enable the trainee to be both fully competent with the practical skills that plumbers face, but also to be competent with all the various building regulations and legislation that are imposed on plumbing operatives.

The Gold Plumbing course includes the following certificated awards:

City & Guilds 6128 – 02 Heating & Ventilation Award

The 6128 is a technical certificate level 2 and is an award that can ultimately lead to a full NVQ which would mean being assessed on the job onsite.

Water Supply Fittings Regulations 1999

The Water Regulations, soon to become ‘2009’ will eventually become a compulsory qualification for operatives working on water systems in England & Wales. This award is due for renewal on October 1st 2009 and we will be running the new updated Water Regulation courses from that date.

Legionella Prevention and Control

The Legionella Prevention and Control certification is closely linked to the Water Regulations and enables the qualified operative to undertake Legionella Risk Analysis of stored water systems and recommend steps that need to be taken to reduce the risk of spread and contamination of the water born bacteria. This award is due for renewal on October 1st 2009 and we will be running the new updated Legionella Prevention and Control course from that date.

Part L Energy Efficiency

Part L Energy Efficiency enables the qualified operative to specify and install hot water/central heating systems in domestic properties only. All work that is covered under Part L, i.e a hot water cylinder replacement must be benchmarked and signed off by a competent/suitably qualified person to satisfy current building control legislation.

Foundation Certificate in Domestic Hot water/Heating System Design and Specification

The foundation award is designed to give the student/operative the understanding of the correct methods regarding boiler/radiator sizing using ‘u value’ heat loss calculation. This award will enable the operative to specify system and component design (such as radiators, pump size systems plans) for both new and existing domestic properties.
